Supermarket Attendants (Cashiers / Sales Assistants) roles and responsibilities:
Roles
- Operate as the first point of contact for customers at the counter.
- Process cash, card, or digital payments quickly and accurately.
- Provide customer service by assisting with product inquiries and purchases.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in assigned sections of the store.
- Support sales by suggesting products and promotions.
- Handle returns, refunds, and exchanges per company policy.
- Monitor stock levels on shelves and report shortages.
- Assist in arranging displays and promotional stands.
Responsibilities
- Customer Service – Greet customers warmly, answer questions, and ensure a positive shopping experience.
- Cashiering – Scan items, issue receipts, and balance the cash register at the end of shifts.
- Sales Support – Upsell or cross-sell products to boost sales.
- Stock Management – Replenish shelves, rotate products, and check expiry dates.
- Store Maintenance – Keep counters, shelves, and work areas neat and clean.
- Compliance – Follow company policies, health, and safety regulations.
- Teamwork – Collaborate with colleagues and support store operations as needed.
- Problem Solving – Handle complaints and escalate issues to supervisors when required.
